Quoting Marc Widmer metafor@gmx.net:
hola,
hi there
i am wondering what is the maximum of pdp_xv possible? realised that i can not make more then 33. depends this on the hardware used?
definitely, yes, the limit is indicated by "Number of Ports" when you issue a 'xvinfo'
(pdp-12.4 pidip .17, could just check on my laptop, 32mb nv2go) i have pidip compiled without complains but somehow i do not have this object pdp_canvas, where you could position multiple videosources. do i have to enable this somewhere in the makefile?
mm, should be there.. maybe a typo ?
i am asking, because i would need a huge a matrix of small videfiles (40x40)pix and thought a combination between multiple xv's and inside of those another matrix of videos, so that at the end i would have 32x24(or less if necessary) small videofiles. they don't need to play all at the same time.
this seems brutal and you would get very low framerate with these dimensions.
cheers, sevy
enlightenment welcome marc

hi yves & list
some additional questions considering xv
definitely, yes, the limit is indicated by "Number of Ports" when you issue a 'xvinfo'
xvinfo gives me something like this: Adaptor #2: "NVIDIA Video Interface Port" number of ports: 1 port base: 172 operations supported: PutVideo
does this mean i will have 172 xv's ? which would be enough if i could use it with pdp_xcanvas.
mm, should be there.. maybe a typo ?
i opened the help for pdp_xcanvas and get the following output: pdp_xcanvas 640 480 3 ... couldn't create help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 53 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 55 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 56 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 57 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 58 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 59 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 60 0 70 0 (message->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 61 0 70 1 (pdp_scale->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 62 0 70 2 (pdp_scale->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 63 0 70 3 (pdp_scale->text) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 70 0 58 0 (text->message) connection failed help-pdp_xcanvas.pd 70 0 64 0 (text->route) connection failed
i use the following configuration: PDP: pure data packet PDP: version 0.12.4 PDP: pdp_opengl extension library PiDiP : additional video processing objects for PDP : version 0.12.18 ( ydegoyon@free.fr )
pdp_colorgrid: version 0.4, written by Yves Degoyon (ydegoyon@free.fr) & Lluis Gomez i Bigorda (lluis@artefacte.org) with pd version 0.37.4
any idea? except this object, everything seems to work just fine.. best marc
