Hello all,
I have a problem here using mp3cast~ on Ubuntu Karmic. Connecting to an icecast server makes pd crash. There is no problem with mp3amp~ This is the last autobuild ( Pd-0.42.5-extended-20100315 ) installed using the Karmic-i386 package Do you have an idea of the origin of this problem? or a workaround? or did I simply miss something? Here is the log:

I tried to compile it from the svn. I manage to build the pd_linux (removing the -Werror flag) but the object is still crashing pd when connecting to the server... here is the log of the compilation, does anyone got an idea? thanks in advance:

could be.
anyhow, the backtrace doesn't show so much yet, since all the debugging symbols have been stripped from mp3cast~.
in order to prevent this, you probably have to edit the Makefile of mp3cast~ and remove the line: strip --strip-unneeded $*.pd_linux
then do "make clean && make"
and rerun the backtrace

recompliling following your instructions show that the problem is in the mp3cast_connect function:

is it somehow related to the 64 architecture of my system?
could be.
anyhow, the backtrace doesn't show so much yet, since all the debugging symbols have been stripped from mp3cast~.
in order to prevent this, you probably have to edit the Makefile of mp3cast~ and remove the line: strip --strip-unneeded $*.pd_linux
then do "make clean && make"
and rerun the backtrace

ok so now i've recompiled with the -c option thanks to mathieu, here is the new backtrace of the crash: (gdb) bt #0 0x0012d422 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0x002874d1 in raise () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #2 0x0028a932 in abort () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #3 0x002bdee5 in ?? this is beyond my abilities... any idea of what i can do to prevent this crash? thanks a lot,

recompliling following your instructions show that the problem is in the mp3cast_connect function:
