hello list,
I am starting to work with 3d objecs, loaded from .obj files, using Pure Data + GEM.
Has anybody experience with this kind of thing? I tried some mazes created with blender and exported to .obj with Crossroads, but they were not correctly exported... Do the models need to be composed only by triangles? To be a mesh only? I will make some tryings now but, if somebody has already worked with 3d objects, please, help me :-)
thanks, andrei

Most .obj models I've encountered load fine in GEM (we use a standard open-source importer). The only ones that don't were made by softImage and sent through a utility to convert to .obj. Those would simply not load, and gave an error. Do you see any errors in the console when loading models?
If you send me a small model then I can have a look at the model file and see what's going on.

hello chris,
now, i got to make the models work fine. I discovered that I have to "join" the meshes in Blender, before exporting to DXF (the conversion to .OBJ is done by Crossroads). And not to use the "triangulation" of Blender.
but i would like to ask: I would like each face had a different collor. Is that possible? I would like to use Blender (with Crossroads) or Anim8tor (that exports directly to .OBJ).
bye, andrei

Hi
i am soliciting suggestions on how to make a bass synth that takes input amplitude and transform it into a bass type sound. maybe triggered by BPM. Is there a beat tracker type thing for PD?

You're not actually meaning input frequency? Then you could use fiddle, but I could figure, that the lower the frequency goes, the harder it then will become for fiddle to find frequencies.
Amplitude tools would include env~ and in your canse also bonk~

bonk~ is the fiddle~ for beats.
