to get a list of objects, just right-click into an empty canvas (or rather: right click anywhere but on an object in a canvas) and select "help"; this should give you a text file with all pd-objects.
note to miller: this is broken at least in pd-0.40-0test05 (the doc/5.reference/0.INTRO.txt is missing)
there are no messages that come with pd (or: any message is possible)

This doesn't work in the PD-extended-0.39.2-test2 I use either. In fact, nothing happens when I click "help" on an empty canvas.

but the list of messages that an object will respond to, are in the DesireData class-browser, same as the list of all possible objects. i'm not sure it differentiates via built-in objects, and externals, via color-coding or subcategories or anything...

for an extended list of externals (and some abstractions), check
http://puredata.org/Members/jmmmp and download the 0.INTRO.txt file. Place
it on the normal directory, [pd]/doc/5.reference/.
There's this too
which should be the standard ref imho, but it hasn't seen much action since 2002. Couldn't this automatically be updated from CVS entries?

I agree. It's fairly unusable at the moment, but it has a great potential.

yes of course. we could write some interface that would allow anybody to enter a text of their choice which would then be displayed in the biggest possible letters until the next user changes this text.

This might work
p.bigredletters {color: rgb(255,0,0); font-family: times; font-size: 500%; font-weight: bold; text-align: center; } ;) On Wed, 30 Aug 2006 21:14:59 +0200 zmoelnig@iem.at wrote:

and text-decoration:blink for those few sacred browsers that support it..
