(apologies for the blank message)
not sure if this has been covered yet... i started using hans' Pd.app installer yesterday and managed to get some libraries loaded, but when i try getting it to load xsample it crashes after starting up without so much as an error message?
anyone else having trouble with xsample?

no trouble here so far.... do you happen to know which version of xsample you are using, or does it crash prior to printing the banner?
best greetings, Thomas

Thomas,
at first pd was crashing very quickly after printing the xsample banner. i switched to one of hans' older installers (0.37.1 and tcl/tk 8.4 on my 600mhz g3) and now everything starts up properly but pd crashes when i turn audio on if one of the xsample objects is in the patch. (i'm not sure of the version of xsample... it's the one included in the installer.)
i suspect perhaps that i'm missing some other library that xsample needs to run properly? perhaps flext? i'm just starting to try and get into the guts of the program so excuse my naivite...

the xsample version should be printed in the banner

You should not need anything else, unless xsample is built as a shared library.... maybe Hans can comment on it, but i'll try on OSX later.
best greetings, Thomas
yep, I think I had some similar problem with xsample not long ago. maybe the problem is that you are using a g4 version on a g3 ?

This reminds me that I would like to include all of your flext-based
externals in the Pd.app build system. Currently, I have gotten only a
few going, but I had problems with others. But it was a while ago, so
I don't remember the specifics.
Would it be possible to set the default options in those
config-pd-darwin.txt files so that the Pd.app build system can built
them straight? Or can I override the vars set in config-pd-darwin.txt
in the standard way (adding them to the make command)?

Of course, just let me know what those default values would be.

Hmm, no idea. I agree that the build system for my externals doesn't really support automation... i'll have to learn autoconf someday
