If I start pd with -frags 1 -blocksize 1, and I take out the delay 10 in the midilatency patch (attached), I can get the latency down to between 4 and 6. This is the same as MacOS X with the same midi interface, a midisport 2x2. I'm still expecting to see 1 or 2 ms of delay, round trip. But at least this is livable.
