Hi list, I am playing around with the foo2 object in the externs folder and I have a question that I can't seem to get an answer to. I need to add an outlet which will output numbers? Basically I have a c code that writes a particular pattern of numbers(floats) to a text file. I have being using qlist to read the data but I thought that if I could just write an object to do this it would be much easier and more efficient. If anybody could rewrite the code to include an outlet which will output whatever comes into the object I would be very appreciative. I don't think it will involve much writing, a few lines I should think? I would really appreciate it!
regards, Rory.

HI Rory,
External objects are the same as built-in ones. A good place to look would be x_acoustics.c in the Pd sources. Someday I want to improve the "foo" stuff...
cheers Miller

Thanks Miller I looked at the x_acoustics in the src directory however that did not seem to help but only serve to confuse me more! But that is expected seen as I am only new to this. Parts of the code are straight foward enough however this time I don't understand where the inlets in your object arrive from. In foo2.c it is very clear as to how to inlcude inlets in your objects, however it does not seem so clear to me here? Anyway I think this is getting away from the subject a bit as all I want to do for now is output some numbers to a number box from my object? Thanks for the help and I hope people on the list are getting too frustrated with this stuff!
Regards, Rory.
