This looks really cool. I think you have a firm grasp of this datastructures stuff. I can't seem to get your patch to work properly though - when I create an instance it comes up with broken connections - are you sure you attached the right bits? There seems to be nothing to attach to the print statements inside ctl-parser.
Can you maybe send or upload a little screenshot somewhere? It works here with pd-0.39-2 and actually is it a really simple patch, I wonder what could go wrong here.
Attached is a new version, which doesn't try to fix and bugs, but adds a some new features: Now only changes are output through the outlet, the metro was made faster (50) and now defaults to be on.
This is really cool, Frank, and that other bug is gone - perhaps it was my cutting/pasting from mutt. The .tgz version works very well. I hope you don't mind if I steal some bits out of this to go into my own 2d control surface. The only reason is to make the look match all of my own s-abstractions with their orange/grey theme. Thanks for the help!
Best,
Chris.

I don't mind at all. Feel free to use and enhance this stuff. It's not a finished product. ;)
Actually maybe you want to test if the creation of the [ctl-parser] patches is really necessary performance-wise. I mean, there probably won't be hundreds of control points anyway, so traversing the ds-subpatch shouldn't do any bigger harm. And without the [ctl-parser]s the patch could be even simpler.

Oh, and I forgot: In mutt, there should be no need to do any cut'n'paste. You should be able to press "v" for "View attachments" and then press "s" on the selected entry to save it. I read my mail with mutt, too, and this worked on my first post with the patches.
