Hi list
Just wondering, since I don't think this has been asked before, how do you all go about debugging your patches? Could some way of seeing the last value sent to an inlet be implemented to help with this? E.g. if I had
[r something] | [+]
I could hover over the right [+] inlet to see the last message sent from something. I seem to spent about half debugging time adding [print]s and boxes all over the place.

Joe Sarlo has implemented something like this, called "Magic Glass" - it is at least in the src to pdVST, but its rather complicated to just cut/paste so you might want to ask him if he has a patch...

wow, that's beautiful, nice work mr sarlo, and thanks for the link carmen, has this patch been merged into cvs yet, any plans to do so?
it makes me wonder though, how many little patches are sitting on servers and not seeing the light of day? what other inovations and extensions have been implemented into private pd's? oh, and how is matju going with impuredata - re. 'project on hold'?
cheers

I guess I should try to diff the patch against the latest-greatest Pd release and see what happens, but somehow I don't think that will be too fruitful. I suppose what I should be doing is diffing every time there is a (significantly) new Pd release so these things won't get away from me so quickly, since my only other option is to bug Miller to include it in the distribution, but I try to use my "Miller favors" sparingly these days!

Still on hold for some time -- a better GridFlow is more urgent, and then contract work is even more urgent. And if I can stop being sick...
