Jonathan Wilkes has made a really nice documentation system with tags, meta data, etc with a nice searching and browsing interface in the 'search-plugin'. This is included in Pd-extended 0.43.4 by default. It can also be localized, but its a separate translation project from Pd itself (it shares basically no strings anyway).
If you haven't tried it already, go to Help -> Search (or Browser2.0 on certain versions). And then you'll probably want to translate it: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/puredata/resource/search-plugin/

Ok, so there is now an almost complete Greek translation and a 55% Italian translation :-). In the process of adding the new translations, I found two strings that I had missed before, that's why the Greek one is now missing two translations. Let me know if you see something that is not translatable or has display issues, like not enough width, etc.
You can generate and try the translations yourself if you have 'gettext' installed on your machine. On Debian/Ubuntu/etc its 'apt-get install gettext'. For Mac OS X, you have to get it from Fink, MacPorts, or brew. For Fink its 'fink install gettext-tools'.
Getting the source from svn is probably easiest, do this in either ~/pd-externals (GNU/Linux) or ~/Library/Pd (Mac OS X:
svn checkout https://pure-data.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pure-data/trunk/scripts/guiplu...
Then to make the translations, do:
cd search-plugin/po make
Just make sure you've downloaded the file "for use" and copied it in place of the one that's in search-plugin/po.

Hi,
I'm starting the translation in French. I found this wierd one:
performance some sort of analysis on the incoming signal or value
Should it read "performs" ?
Cheers pob

It should read:
"perform some sort of analysis on the incoming signal or value"
I also gazed on
- store or manipulate an anything
- provide trogonometric functionality (trigonometric?)
Fixed those too. Now I have to figure out how to remove the bad, old lines from transifex.

It shold read "perform". Also should probably remove "some sort of" from the description.
Btw-- Here are the current results I have for objects tagged with "analysis". If anyone can find more objects that need the tag "analysis", or a more refined short description of "analysis" please let me know:
bonk~ an attack detector for small percussion instruments Keywords: signal analysis
choice search for a best match to an incoming list Keywords: control storage analysis list_op
fft~ Fourier analyses Keywords: signal block_oriented analysis
fiddle~ pitch estimator and sinusoidal peak finder Keywords: signal analysis
pique find peaks in an FFT spectrum Keywords: control analysis
sigmund~ sinusoidal analysis and pitch tracking Keywords: signal analysis
maxlib/beat beat tracker Keywords: control analysis
maxlib/chord tries to detect chords Keywords: control analysis
maxlib/edge detect rising or falling edge in floats Keywords: control analysis
maxlib/gestalt gestalt detection for monophonic melodies Keywords: control analysis MIDI
maxlib/history calculates the average of the floats that came in within the last N milliseconds Keywords: control analysis
maxlib/pitch get info about pitch Keywords: control analysis MIDI
maxlib/rhythm detects the beat of rhythmic patterns Keywords: control analysis
maxlib/score score follower that tries to match incoming MIDI data to a score stored in an array Keywords: control MIDI analysis
maxlib/temperature output number of input changes in N ms Keywords: control analysis

- store or manipulate an anything
An "anything" is any message that is accepted by the anything method of a class. I suppose I should shield this ugly terminology from the user as much as possible.
Possible alternatives: "store or manipulate messages" <-- too vague? "store or manipulate any type of message" <-- what's a message "type"? Doesn't include gem messages or GF grids...
- provide trogonometric functionality (trigonometric?)
Better: "provide trigonometric functionality" <-- maybe "function" or "functions" or "function(s)"?

Hi,
I've been trying to translate "tag" in French, but can't find a better word in French than "mot clé", that is to say "keyword". Otherwise I could leave "tag" since it's more and more common to people working with computers, but then what's the point in translating... :)
What does "no DESCRIPTION tag or values." mean? Is DESCRIPTION a variable? In what context does this text appear?
I have to install this search plug-in and see if the translations I wrote fit the context in each case.
Cheers Pierre-Olivier

Hm, what about "marqueur" or "étiquette"? http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marqueur_%28m%C3%A9tadonn%C3%A9e%29

To see what these refer to, look at the [pd META] subpatch on any help patch. in [pd META], there is DESCRIPTION, KEYWORDS, AUTHOR, etc. I think 'keyword' is a good translation for it, if 'tag' is not a common word in French. I chose 'tag' because I think its a more commonly used word these days than "keyword".
