Hi, having tracked down all the library files i'm getting this now:
load_object: Symbol "_pdp_pidip_setup" not found /usr/local/lib/pd/pdp_pidip_osx/pdp_pidip: can't load library
my .pdrc file points to the library -lib /usr/local/lib/pd/pdp_pidip_osx/pdp_pidip so i guess the first error is stopping the library from loading?
is it normal to run into such problems or am I making a pigs ear of this? (be gentle!)

OOOPS, big mistake from my side, of course, the package should be named pdp.pd_darwin and not pdp_pidip.pd_darwin, as i've renamed it at the last minute.
also, Image Magick should be build from sources and not installed with Fink because of that extra option in the configure stage ( ./configure --enable-shared ).
these errors have been fixed in the archive on the site and in the installation notes.
thanx, rob, for your patience and feedback.
i must say i did that pidip for OSX quite fast in the early hours of a norvegian night ( and aquavit is not the best adviser )..
well, i hope we'll fix all these problems, you're the firsts to really try it ( rob, derek & sara ).
cheers, sevy

Ah ha! thanks for that, now, having changed the file name i am very, very happy to see this:
PDP: pure data packet PDP: version 0.12.1 PiDiP : additional video processing objects for PDP : version 0.12.10 ( ydegoyon@free.fr )
but then i get this:
pdp_text : severe error : could not load default font : no rendering !!!
also i tried the quicktime.pd example, the file loaded ok but then i got this error:
pdp_glx: autocreate window pdp_glx: cant open display :0
I'm using Xdarwin for X11 support - how can i make sure this is working with pdp_pidip? (do i need to run pd from the Xserver somehow or should pidip call up the X11 window on its own?)
thanks

oke, my fault, there was a missing /fonts directory in the archive now added that contains a font that should be installed on your system ( in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF on linux, but maybe elsewhere on MAC OSX, oh yep, maybe you don't know i don't have a MAC at hand ).
but anyway, this is not too serious, only the pdp_text object will not work.
also i tried the quicktime.pd example, the file loaded ok but then i got this error:

yep, you definitively need to start X11 server before starting pd. wasn't that clear enough ?
cheers, sevy
thanks
Hi, I've just got pdp_pidip successfully running on OSX. I haven't tested it fully yet but i I just tried the quicktime.pd example and manage to see my movie running in a window! Yves, thanks for all your help along the way - now to see if i can get it going on my redhat box... thanks again for all your help (and externals) Rob ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ robcanning - www.cmc.ie/composers - www.soundin.org ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

hi, would you be ok to write notes about your installation experience in a web page when it is still fresh in your memory. it would greatly simplify the task of other macosx user trying to do the same stuff and thus increase the pure-data community on the osx side. i think http://www.pure-data.org/docs/ would be a good place to store it.

Is there a way to do a do a real time green screening with pd-gem?
Patrick
Try pix_chroma_key. Works with both RGB and YUV (Altivec for the latter), but don't expect it to match UltiMatte when it comes to poorly lit and controlled mattes.
