hi,
i´m currently working on a patch for a multiscreen / multiprojector installation. I know, probably vvvv is the better choice to do this - but first i want to try it with GEM. i started with two screens, two pd instances, two gemwins framesynced over netsend/receive on one machine. for edgeblending i use pix_takealpha and a matching tif with alpha channel.
at this point the first question appears: is there an object in GEM to adjust gamma and can elevate blacklevels ???
for a rudimental imagewarping i textured the whole thing on a 4-point polygon. the next problem: on excessive warping poor edges appears on texturing - i´ve tried polygon_smooth but it seems that it does not do anything...is there a more elegant way to get smooth imagewarping???
thanks & best regards,
rainer
p.s. i´m still on GEM 0.90

look at a thread named "soft edge" on this mailling list. there a mail I send at then end of december that offer a patch that can do this kind of soft edge. but you have to create only 1 windows that is on both screen. (so you only have 1 pd)

i think everything that concern pixel value should be computed in Gpu (so with shader) for performance reason.

i recently upload a Gem example for doing this. here it is.

??? really? according to files date, this release was made in 2004. lot's of work have been made since. it's time to upgrade.

...wow! thats a a lot more sophisticated than my approach! thanks!!! unfortunatly i can´t get "02.nfp-help.pd" patch to run and i´m not that much into this gl objects....
don´t get me wrong - i can also run GEM 0.92.3. but since after 0.90 versions mark danks "counter" object disappeared for no reason i still use 0.90 mostly. later version breaks about 90% of my old GEM patches.
probably time to switch to vvvv and the multiscreen object/node/whatever...
thanks again,
ra

what are the error?

counter disappear because there is no reason to include it in Gem. you can make a counter abstraction in few minutes. there are plenty of them.

it's sad to hear that you want to switch to vvvv because of a missing counter.

hi,
what are the error?
on creating gemwin "GL: invalid enumerant"
you can make a counter abstraction in few minutes.
yes i could...or better yes i can :-)

just for this multiscreen matter. i love pd&GEM.
cheers,
rainer

You can also do it without an abstraction. I usually connect two or three boxes together, something like :
[f]x[+ 1]
where x are crossed wires.
for looping the counter, you can insert a [mod] or a [sel] or a [moses], for example.

GEM was split in two. The other part became the MarkEx library.
You can use it by doing [import markex].
Alternately, you can write [markex/counter], or set a direct -path to the markex folder.
