Hi everyone,
My Master's thesis, "Who is Listening: Human and Computer Influence in Interactive Music Systems" is now available online at home.nyu.edu/~gmr222/WhoIsListening.pdf
This paper presents a definition of interactive systems and sets up a framework for a taxonomy of existing and future systems. PD is used extensively throughout. You can get the example patches from the text from my home page at home.nyu.edu/~gmr222/
Feedback is most welcome.
Thanks, Greg Rippin

I'd like to comment the last paragraph in page 5:
... PD runs on most of the major operating systems in use today, including Windows 98, NT, and XP, Mac 9.x and X, several flavors of Linux, Unix, Palm, and IRIX.
Where's the MacOS 9.x and Palm versions of PD?
Patches (as PD programs are called) are fully portable between these operating systems.
Not fully portable because of externals that works only on specific operating systems.
