Hi all-
I have PD 0.38-4 from Miller's site running on my Mac Pismo under Debian Linux 2.6.8. I've got an M-Audio Quattro attached, which seems to do pretty well with respect to data rates and channels using aplay.
Here's my issue with PD: I can run it using OSS emulation and PD will let me switch from Pismo internal audio to the Quattro. If I enable ALSA, I can use the Pismo internal audio, but when I switch to the Quattro box, I'm getting some wild sounds...
From what it sounds like, I think there's an endian problem as the Pismo
is big- and the Quattro is little-endian.
I'm getting a "snd_pcm_hw_params_set_format: Invalid argument" response at the terminal, not in the PD message box.
Anyone have any thoughts or pointers? I'll of course start to look at the source, but any past wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Best and thanks,
Tad Turner

good, so it works

what kernel version are you using ? Maybe it's really an endianess bug in the driver (it has happened before with hdsp for example). Probably report this to alsa-user or alsa-dev aswell. But then aplay should also be affected.

you could try with alsa's oss emulation or jack and see if that helps.

Or use a "plug" device in ALSA. Pd should offer one in the Media->Audio settings menu, otherwise it also can be added on the command line, if it's a device with another name than "hw:X" or "plughw:X"
