hello list,
i just upgraded on ubuntu oneiric and tryed to install gridflow, but there is no libquicktime1 anymore in this ubuntu version.
when i try to install gridflow (.deb or tarball) it says that i need libquicktime1 but installed is libquicktime2. is there already a gridflow-version for it?
or any other idea how i can install it without libquicktime1?
tank you very much
christian

Can't you download libquicktime1 from an older version of ubuntu and install it anyway ? But just the lib itself, not the «-dev» package.

do you rely on anything in libquicktime1 that is not present in libquicktime2? afaik, they are API compatible, so a simple recompile should be possible (or does "tarball" stand for a binary release in tarball form?)

if i try to install libquicktime1:
libquicktime1 : Hängt ab /(it depends)/: libavcodec52 (>= 4:0.6-1~) ist aber nicht installierbar /(not installable) /oder libavcodec-extra-52 (>= 4:0.6-1~) ist aber nicht installierbar Hängt ab: libswscale0 (>= 4:0.6-1~) ist aber nicht installierbar oder libswscale-extra-0 (>= 4:0.6-1~) ist aber nicht installierbar
and if i try to install libavcodecs 52 instead of libavcodecs 53 wich are already installed:
Die folgenden Pakete werden ENTFERNT: /(remove)/ cinelerra dvgrab gem gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse kdenlive libavcodec-extra-53 libavdevice-extra-53 libavfilter-extra-2 libavformat-extra-53 libmjpegtools-1.9 libmlt++3 libmlt4 libquicktime2 melt mjpegtools pd-extended
i think i will have a big codec-mess on my laptop after doing it, °_° for that reason i asked for another solution, because i have often problems with codecs, especially in kdenlive.
but anyway, i continue to try
thank you
christian

how about: "a simple recompile" of gridflow?

Recompiling Gridflow worked great for me, but when using it with pd-extended 0.43 I've had a few problems opening patches

Recompiling has the added advantage of getting ready support and fixes from the development community. It is the way to go with pd-extended and cutting edge li s such as gridflow, IMHO.

I still haven't fixed it... my plan was to release the current code as 9.14 and then fix the problem with pd 43 and release that as 9.15 before the end of the year... but, so far, the schedule doesn't look like it.

If you get it from SVN instead, you almost get gridflow 9.14... I mean, the 9.14 release will be similar to what's in SVN now.

GF 9.11 (and some versions before) had both binary tarballs and source tarballs. That's because we had figured that building binary tarballs was easier than trying to make debs for every release that happened every 6 months in the last N years. But we weren't so sure about it. Claude offered Launchpad packages for 3 dists and or 2 platforms. It was good news, but it only happened once. After that, for 9.13, I spent a whole day on Launchpad stuff with Patrick Boivin, and we were not able to finish producing any deb file.
