Also you need to enable DRI in /etc/X11/XF86Config[-4] like:
Ah - this is the problem. Yesterday I loaded my XF86Config-4 for dual screen and so I have this bad performance. But I don't understand why, I have the same settings (only an additional monitor:) - maybe I must specify something special for dual screen (xinerama) ?

with the single_head DRI works ...

Hi,
just a guess, but perhaps the graphics card needs more memory in dual head mode, therefore being unable to use DRI?
