Hi,
I try to convert a pretty old msp patch into pd and successfully installed cyclone ("this is cyclone 0.1, 53rd alpha build warning (miXed): matrix~ is raising itself..." showing up on startup). Unfortunately the original msp patch fails to load. it obviously can't deal with the text format of max.
(lots of errors about "#P: no such object" and "classmaker: no method for 'vpatcher'" and such)
How is it supposed to work? Do I have to convert the msp text files first into some pd digestable format, or does it have to do with the first error message "max: unknown message v2", showing some maybe unsupported patch format to cyclone?

seems cyclone loads after zexy (which is fine, and the opposite is fine as well). The warning, a bit criptic for sure, is about being ready to resolve the matrix~ nameslash. If cyclone loads as -lib maxmode, you would get the msp-compatible matrix~, if it loads as -lib cyclone -- the zexy's one.

*File->Open is obsolete* for loading max patches. Instead, create a [cyclone] object and click on it. It should load max-text, max-binary, and even the max-old format (which max itself does not load anymore...) If still it fails, please send me your patch...

Hi Krzysztof,
thanks, that worked. I'm very impressed!
I used 2 channel buffer~ objects in the original patch. Loading it with cyclone seems to simulate that somehow, but saveing the patch as a pd patch and reloading gives me errors. Is there an easy way out? I'd prefer not to completely rewrite the patch but still have it in pd native format.

[buffer~ name duration 2] should be replaced with two arrays, "0-name" and "1-name", each of the same size = duration * sr * .001.
Usually, the easiest way to do that is using [table 0-name size] and [table 1-name size], and a [soundfiler] for 'read' and 'write'. Most buffer~ clients are available in cc, groove~ might be replaced with xgroove~. There is no 2d.wave~, though.

Hi Krzysztof,
this message is sent off-list. Please reply to my private email.
I haven't followed the pd list very actively in the last year(s). As you might not know I've got a job in Freiburg, teaching electronic composition and running the electronic studio of the Musikhochschule there. I'm very busy reorganising everything and am trying to find out about the activities in other places. Are you still working at the Warszawa conservatory? I saw your name listed in the composition department. Could you tell me more about the situation there and send me some music, you or people you find interesting have made?
I still live in Berlin which isn't as far away from Poland as Freiburg. If you ever visit Berlin (or Freiburg), please let me know ahead of time. I'd be interested to meet you in person.
Thanks, Orm

unrelated, but might happen to hurt even more: there was a bug in alpha53. Windows version of the comment object caused pd-gui to choke under heavy traffic. It was corrected in alpha54, but I forgot to upload this to my page. Now it is there, hopefully...
