hi,
i atlast inspired to test the flashserver, but i have NOT used flash/actionscript before (i like director/lingo more) so i have couple questions...
can i make exe files with flashMX ? (like projectors in director) (yes, i could find out this my self :)
user just starts the exe file that i made with flash, and then pd&co starts automaticly...
(in pd) i connected [print] to the leftmost outlet of [flashserver] and typed "owsoeiglkhsdg" in the 'raw data entry" of 'flashserver.swf' but i don't get anything in pd, or should this not even work ?! (the sliders & 'hello world' works ok) [win2k, PD0.35-1, flashserver 0.2d]
thnx -andre ps. how hard would this be, PD<->Director ?

it's also called projector (i think). look at the file menu, there is some point, where you can change options to export as swf, exe, html embeded, etc... you will find it.
- if yes, can i start pd from within the (flash) exe... you know, that

you could start PD and open from there. flashserver understands an open command.
- if some1 has more flashserver examples, please mail me...

try a ; at the end of the command.

depends if there are possibilities to access a socket in director (something like a telnet client). It's quite possible that there are some externals. Could be very similar to flash.

Yes it is. Open the .swf and choose file->save as projector from the menue...

I don't know if it works that way but you could do it the other way round. Use the 'open' message of flashserver to start your flash movie (as .exe file).

... you have to mouse-click on 'raw data' to get your input submitted.

I haven't used Director at all. If it supports network socket connections it should do the job.

the mulituser Xtra is still available form Macromedia, but supposedly it really sucks. i looked at it when i was working on a networked video project (gethyper.com/triptych), but i went ahead and used MAX and Open Sound Control. i wish i had used PD because it would have been much easier to borrow 3 PC's and instead of hunting down several G4's.
check out OSC at http://cnmat.CNMAT.Berkeley.EDU/OSC/ and there are packages for PD and Flash.

oh thnx, worx !!!
there is an Open Sound Control Xtra on cnmat.com that allows you some Director/PD compatibility through OSC which is a souped up form of UDP. the Xtra its very limited, Director to OSC communication only and pretty beta.
