hi,
I have just upgraded my system to fedora core 4, installed pd etc., but my sound input is not working.
dac~ gives output, for example when I connect an osc~ to it. adc~ has no input, however. I've checked the alsa mixer, and the microphone is on. (direct output works, and other applications like skype are working too.)
I have configured pd (version 0.38.4) with --enable-alsa and --enable-jack. The jack server is started with:
[root@laptop ~]# jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 jackd 0.99.0 Copyright 2001-2003 Paul Davis and others. jackd comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; see the file COPYING for details
loading driver .. creating alsa driver ... hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit control device hw:0 configuring for 48000Hz, period = 1024 frames, buffer = 2 periods Couldn't open hw:0 for 32bit samples trying 24bit instead Couldn't open hw:0 for 24bit samples trying 16bit instead
that should be ok, i have a 16bit soundcard in my laptop. After that, i start pd -jack:
pd -jack priority 8 scheduling enabled. memory locking enabled. priority 6 scheduling enabled. memory locking enabled. Configuring for UNIX Pd version 0.38.4 devel {OSS 2} {ALSA 1} {jack 5} courier
no errors here. The pd window gives me the output:
Opened Alsa Client 128 in:1 out:1
Computing audio gives no error, except jack sometimes outputs the following message:
**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 9.553 msecs
But i don't get any input. Tried to connect adc~ to dac~, and also tried to connect adc~ with fiddle to see some output, but nothing is coming in...
dmesg gives no errors either. I don't really know where to look now. I tried some older versions of pd, with the same result. Has anyone here encountered the same problems?
regards,
