I am a "newbie" to pd, so any help you can give would be really appreciated. This is probably dumb.
I am running version 39-0, on a mac 867 powerbook, os x.
documentation that i could find doesn't explain this. I would compile if steps can be spelled out like super-simple for someone who has barely opened the terminal, at all.
pd?
could be the problem with Jack not making PD connect to a PreSonus sound card. It just won't work. PD, without Jack making the connection, sees the PreSonus sound card and is fine going right to it and on out. I hear Jack is "picky" so how do I help Jack to work w/this soundcard?
Thanks for any help. Andrew

- How do I install GEM and get PD to see it?

Download and use Pd-0.38.4-extended-RC2.dmg:
http://at.or.at/hans/pd/installers.html
Follow the instructions on that site, like one line.

pd?
That you'd have to compile yourself, or pay/beg someone to make it part
of the Pd-extended.app build system.

- Lastly, sorta seperately, does anyone know what

in pd audio patches, sometimes when i grab the top to move the window of a patch or when i load a file with a bang toggle (in the patch), there is a sound drop-out for the moment i am doing this. is this a bug with the gui?
also, sometimes in gem patches, in edit mode, scrolling across a number of things to grab them all, has a funny dis-connect from the x-y point that i am actually moving the cursor at: it makes the box and attempts to highlight at about 4 inches to the left of where the cursor is.
what could this be?
re-install?
thanks again, andrew

A known bug and a topic of many a heated discussion. Read the archives
for techniques to avoid this or for the ongoing debate.

Its a known but unsolved bug on OSX. If you close the affected window
and reopen it, it'll go away.
