Hi all,
as a by-product, it is very likely that the (discussed) namespacing-mechanism ([zexy::abs~] vs. [Gem::abs~]) would have to be implemented anyway.
Please!! Let's not use :: as the : is reserved in MacOS and then i can't emulate the namespace features for Max. Let's use . which is already common.
best greetings, Thomas

sorry. what i tried to make clear is, that we will finish up again in the explicit namespaces (no matter which delimiters are used)
but sill, i don't like the idea of "." very much, it is to filename-like. i'd prefer another (not used in everyday-life) delimiter, but cannot think of one (right now ?)
anyhow, my repeated use of "the already discussed namespacing problem" was intended, because it was not my intention to start another long discussion about namespacing (that will end up in ":: would be so great because we already know this from oop-langs like c++" vs. "no, i cannot type this on my mac. let's use . instead") still, he problem is unsolved and has to be fixed sometimes

Do you regularly use : in your Linux/Windows-filenames? As far as i know that's the only limitation. On the other hand you can (but possibly should not....) use *+~#()&><!

PS. Anyway, i don't like MacOS<=9 - but have to use it.

ok, that was kind of a joke ("seriously"), so i'll have to explain it: :: is the standard namespace-delimiter in C++. so the question was rather "how do you write c++-code when not being able to type : ?" than "how do you call your filenames then ?"

you don't have to. i dislike m$ and still have to use it...

on my G3 Mac (german keyboard layout) it's "alt-7"...

Although I don't have an iBook available, it's easy on my US layout keyboard (shift-), but it was hard to find after I switched to AZERTY. Try option-shift-L... (Option is also known as "alt".)
Also, for finding other characters, try using /Applications/Utilities/Key Caps.app.
Sorry if this is basic information to you. I don't know what your familiarity with the Mac idiom is.
Best, adam
