Hi, Is it possible to use Pdp to play video files under X without having a video 4 linux input installed? I just want to trigger mpeg/mov playback on my screen from Pd.

hi chris,
you can use pdp_qt/pdp_qt~ to play movs. mpegs can be played with pdp_ffmpeg~ from pidip, but there's no osx port yet.

Hi Tom, Is ffmpeg~ part of the standard pdp distribution? Because I can't seem to find it.

hi,
no, pdp_ffmpeg~ is part of PiDiP ( http://ydegoyon.free.fr/software.html ) but, by the way, it's pdp_live~ which enables you to read mpegs, avi,... lucky you, it's also in PiDiP..
cheers,
sevy

Hi,
Thanks for all your help. It's all compiled and running now and it's only 3:30am. This software is awesome, guys. Just one more question: is there any way for me to set the xv output size? Can I set it to full-screen? I seem to have missed this in the docs.
Kind Regards,
Chris.

Look at doc/objects/pdp_xv.pd

you can send a "fullscreen" message to pdp_xv / pdp_glx. however this doesn't seem to work correctly with all window managers. it works with fvwm and fluxbox. it doesn't work with twm, kwm and wmaker (they still display borders), though wmaker has a fullscreen maximization attribute you can use to do fullscreen display.
if you have a second screen, you can run X without window manager.
