Dear all,
I just discovered that GEM is lacking font support in some recent linux packages available at puredata.info.
Creating an object like [text3d] triggers a warning in the console, stating "GEM has been compiled without FONT support".
I can confirm this for the following packages

Hey Jogi,
Welcome!
Please file a bug report on this (go to the Help menu, then "report
bug"), and I'll take a look at it when I have a moment. Include which
version you are using and where you got it from.

Done. Sorry, took me a while; too busy ...
BTW: IOhannes suggested to install Gem from a different source (in my case the package shipped by debian) and use this instead of the one that comes with pd-extended. This solution works for me although it's only a workaround.
