I'm having issues with [comport] with pd 39.2 extended test 7 on Windows.
Specifically, I have an FTDI USB-Serial adapter showing up as COM11 in device manager, but if I try and go [comport 11 9600] it says "comport open 11, baud 0 not valid (args: [portnum] [baud]". Ditto [comport 12 9600] and [comport 10 9600] through [comport 8 9600]. [comport 7 9600] down to [comport 1 9600] gives me "could not open device" (which is expected), and [comport 0 9600] works, opening up COM1.
Sending messages [baud 9600( then [open 11( doesn't work either.

Whats up?
Are you using the latest version of [comport]? Older ones only opened the first few ports, IIRC. Latest is at: http://pure-data.cvs.sourceforge.net/pure-data/externals/iem/comport/comport... Martin

I can't build this right now as I don't have a pd.lib to link against. If I download vanilla pd-0.39.2 and link against the pd.lib included there, are things likely to fall over?
Hans, could the pd-extended-windowsxp releases please include a pd.lib?
Also, it would seem that 0.39.2-extended-test7 includes an old version of [comport] (under the flatspace subdir).

I did this recently with rvbap.c, and even did it on Linux, cross-compiling for Windows! It worked. See pd-dev for gory details.

pd 39.2 extended test 7 uses basically the newest version of comport
(only one very minor change isn't included). My guess is that you
have another comport binary somewhere. If not, then it's a bug, and
should be filed in the tracker.
