Hello to all!
I need to create a patch for granular sysnthesis and i was wondering if there is out there any useful library that maybe i should know about before i start re-inventing the wheel!
I had a look at the list archive, but emails about granular synthesis seem quite old so maybe there is something new out there....
Thanks for the help!

you could have a look at my ParticleChamber abstraction. it's on pure-data.org in the community patches section. also look for the syncgrain external, by frank barknecht, which should be in the externals section of the PD CVS [(?) --otherwise Google...]. mine does asynchronous granulation, frank's does synchronous granulation.
best, d.

I think you can go ahead and try it. I have a patch on my machine called granular2.0, unfortunately I don't know who made it, it's a port of a granulator made for Max/MSP. It uses an abstractin that does the job so it might be useful if you want to brew your own. If you came accross this patch, have a look, if not, contact me and I can send you a copy. Mind you, it does not synthesize. It granulates a soundifle (which has to be first loaded into an array), which may not be what you're looking for.
There has also been a little demo of pulsar synthesis http://www.nullpointer.co.uk/-/pd.htm based on Curtis Roads' 'Microsound' wihch is quite nice and 'fresher' approach to granular synthesis.
Otherwise there were a couple of externs that I have seen around but never really got into using them.

Hi Sandra,
I compiled a web page of some PD granular synthesis implementations a few months ago... you can find it here: http://edstreet.customer.netspace.net.au/granular.html (by the way, i recently discovered it doesn't display properly in Safari browser - hope it looks ok for you on your browser)
my list doesn't include a few recent additions such as Derek Holzer's Particle Chamber, and possibly some older work also, so please don't take it as a definitive list!
but i hope it is useful.
cheers, Nick

Er, the Percolate library has a granular object... What's it called, munger, I think.
