Please reply on-list (i.e. Reply All). You need to have the Gem sources. Getting the sources with rsync is the easiest.

Nope, go for it. It won't do quite what you expect. You probably need to set DESTDIR or something. Like: make DESTDIR= prefix=/usr/local install
