It is included in Pd extended normally. You can use Pd-ext or its readanysf~ binary if you use Pd vanilla 32 bits 0.43+ n

I just checked the current Pd-extended.dmg and it does not come with [readanysf~]. It would have surprised me if it would, since Pd-extended for Linux and Windows also does not ship with [readanysf~].
BTW: It seems [readanysf~] doesn't work properly on Windows, too. After having added zlib.dll to and copied pd.dll to C:\Windows\syswow64 (Windows 7 64bit), I was finally able to successfully load [readanysf~], but it wouldn't play any files (or at least not any mp3 files). It said: Invalid file format or unsupported codec. This seems expectable, since the readanysf~ binary isn't linked to any decoder library like gmerlin-avdecoder.

You're right, it was in my "All Users" path. So here is a version that works with Pd-ext. on osx 10.6-10.9: http://www.nimon.org/tmp/readanysf~.zip Actually, iirc, it "needs" to be in the All Users path, ie. /Library/Pd (and not ~/Library/Pd)
best n

Oh, good to know it works on OS X. Thanks for the instructions.
