my pd just froze when I did the following: 1 create a subpatcher pd sub 2 ctl+1 for a new object, but donŽt type anything in the box (only right click into the canvas) 3 rename the subpatch to an unknown object (trtrtrtrtrtrtrt sub) voilá! : ) that is with 0.37 and win XP. m.
Hi Marius, i can reproduce this as well... would you file a bug report on the sf.net site?
best greetings, Thomas

Thanks... it seems it's just in PD 0.37 and in PD 0.38 devel... will have a look....
works fine here on pd-0.37-4 and pd-0.38-4 (both miller vanilla sources) linux of course
could the problem be related to the windows built then ?
mfg.asd.r IOhannes
Yeah, no problem here in 0.38-2 Pd.app (Tcl/Tk 8.4.9).

this seems to be a lovely deadlock ... glist_deselect and glist_noselect each use about 50 % of the cpu ...
btw, max, iohannes and hans, have you _created_ an empty object before renaming the subpatch? this bug occurs, when you rename the subpatch _while_ creating an object (after ctrl+1 before left-click on the canvas)
cheers ... tim

Ah yes, that's the key part: leaving the object blank and not attached
to the canvas. I reproduced it as well. It pegged the CPU, but I was
able to quit fine. Pd.app 0.34-2/TclTK 8.4.9

right, it ony occurs if the object in the subpatch stayed selected. it locks somehow, i can still select and drag the windows but pd does not quit on ctl-Q.

yes, that's what marius told us to do
this bug occurs, when you rename the subpatch
_while_ creating an object (after ctrl+1 before left-click on the canvas)
erring, i didn't create the new&empty object within the sub-patch, but in the parent patch. from marius' description, it was unclear to me, where i had to create the new object ("canvas" is _very_ vague)
now i get a deadlock too (0.38.4)
