Hi, I am using PD (0.40.2-2) under Linux (Ubuntu 7.04). Some days ago I compiled and installed Thomas Grill's Flext and Pyext (Which still runs kind of buggy) version 0.2.0, I also tried the CVS-version later. I also needed some header and other devel-files, like numeric, numarray,, stk and sndobj. I used my distribution' packages for that.
Since that day I always hear some clicking noise in the simplest patches, like a simple osc~ -> dac~ and always get 'A/D/A sync' and 'DAC blocked' errors. I get those errors even when there's no patch open!
I tried this with alsa and jack (with alsa and freebob-backends) but always the same noise. I tried not to load the Pyext-External, but this has no effect either.
I don't think that the problem is alsa or jack, playing mp3s with xmms is no problem.
I have no idea where else I could look for errors. I know these are very few information :(
Btw. Are there Ubuntu/Debian Packages anywhere where pyext is included?
Thanks for any help.
Ok, an update, it seems to work with jack with alsa-backend now, no matter at which samplingrate. But I still don't understand why it doesn't work with alsa directly.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with Pyext, it's simply a Jack buffering problem. Have a play around with the buffers. Do you see anything in the (jack) console about xruns?
