Hi,
Not much time ago I asked a similar question about windows (this was straight-forward in windows in older version but then became a bit tricky)... Anyway, I now need the same (or a similar workaround) in Ubuntu:
How can I have both Vanilla and Extended installed, run one or the other depending on the need of the moment?
Thanks m.
On Ubuntu/Lucid, you should be able to install both the 'puredata'
package and the 0.42.5-rc3 package.

Hi Matteo, now the launcher script for pd-extended is pdextended in /usr/bin. Pd-vanila still uses pd command to be launched if i'm not wrong.

I installed the jaunty binary package for pd extended, it runs with "pd" and there is no "pdextended" command.
I guess that improvement is more recent.
In order to install the latest version I guess I'll have to download the source and compile it, no?

run "pd" to run pd. run "pdextended" to run pdextended.
i have a "puredata" package in the queue that will use "puredata" as the binary to run, and divert to "pd". pd-extended should do the same then, so the user can chose their flavour of "pd"

Hi
You can launch Pd vanilla with "pd" and pd-extended with "pdextended".
