On suse-Linux 8.0 I have compiled the same sources some time ago without any errors. (I think the gcc was about version 2.95). Any suggestions ? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks,

It seems that gcc 3.3 is stricter with types than earlier versions. You can compile pd OK after editing the makefiles (in src and some of the subdirectories) to remove the -Werror flag wherever it appears, since it causes gcc to treat warnings as errors. Here the warnngs appear to be harmless.

Here's a simple perl script to remove some flags before compiling perl -p -i -e "s|-Werror|-Wno-error||g;" make -- Marc
However, Pd's underflow protection will not work if you do this.

hi, try to use gcc 2.95! you can install both versions simultanously and then change the symbolic link of gcc from 3.3 to 2.95 (usually in /usr/bin.) on the other hand you could remove the -Werror flag of the makefile. gcc 3.3 stops on errors. Marius.

Instead of changing the symlink, try this: make CC=gcc-2.95 -- Marc

You could also use gcc 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2. On Debian, you can have numerous 3.x versions installed at the same time.

This is an ongoing problem... should be fixed in 0.37-1, which I'll put out in "test" form later today...

The first batch of errors all come from the use of the macro PD_BADFLOAT, which tries to cast a float as unsigned int, a dangerous practice if your floats don't happen to be that size. The standard include file math.h defines macros that do the same thing and will compile on any platform: look at isnormal() or fpclassify(). Martin
