So I have this laptop hooked up to a MIDI timepiece AV. I'm running ALSA 0.9-beta3. The beta4 card-mtpav.c file is the same as the beta3 one. I run pd-0.33-TEST5 and see the following.
# pd -midiindev 2 -midioutdev 2 -nosound Pd: system call timed out Pd: system call timed out couldn't open MIDI output device 2 opened 1 MIDI input device(s) and 0 MIDI output device(s).
Any pointers on how to proceed?
I'm willing to believe I've loaded the mtpav driver poorly as well...
It doesn't work with this
# modprobe snd-card-mtpav snd_hwports=0
or this
# modprobe snd-card-mtpav
The parallel port is set to "bi-directional" in BIOS. I made all the other parallel port drivers loadable as modules, and none of them are loaded when I use the mtpav.

although the files may be equal, some rawmidi related files have been fixed in between iirc. I couldn't get *any* midi port to open with beta3. Try is to upgrade to beta4.
