I’ve further noticed that the “meta” keys (control, option, command, delete) do NOT exhibit this behavior. Not sure if this is important.
I’d like to file a bug report on this, but the bug tracker has no milestone for Pd 0.48 yet.

Also, I think what we're seeing is the key repeat from macOS. Maybe this was handled differently with the older version of TK which used Carbon. Tk 8.5+ uses Cocoa on the backend.
