i've been using logic audio with Pd under windows xp. i feel really comfortable with it as a sequencer, so i work fast with it. i route my keyboards through logic as controllers. that goes out of my delta into a quattro usb s/c and into Pd as midi and audio signals. i've tried virtual cables, but this was the most stable way for me to do it.
under a free environment, you may consider rosegarden or something similar. i don't have much personal experience with rosegarden, but it's a very appealing interface, and seems fairly intuitive.
one note: using logic in tandem with Pd is murder on my CPU, especially considering my tendancy towards absurdly huge multi-voice tech-wank patches ...
i'm working on an OSC vst unit which will (probably) send lots of wonderful control messages and note-ons and work in commercial sequencers as well as nerdy audio utilities and save the world and whatnot.. but since i'm really stupid and slow at coding, it may be a while before that becomes practical..
hope this is of some help. let me know if you want details. it took me a while to set up logic correctly, i'll have you know. not very intuitive.
