Hello
I have an installation on Win2K that runs a shortcut on startup to launch a Pd. I'm using the "key" object, so the staff running the exhibition can hit keys 0-9 to control the volume. Unfortunately, none of the Pd windows are highlighted after launching and "key" won't work till the mouse is clicked on the Pd window. The computer used for the installation has no monitor, and while I have maximised the main Pd window, I'd rather people didn't have to click blindly (or click at all for that matter) in order to enable volume adjustment.
Is there an easy way to have my main Pd patch window (the one with "key") launch into a highlighted state on Win2K?
Cheers, Iain

sending something like this to a [tot] should almost definitely do that:
query wm focusmodel .^ active .: wm deiconify .^ .: raise .^ .: focus -force .^
all of those at once is probably overkill and may interfere with the keystroke grabbing, just worked here w/ a simple test on XP however...after adding a 'del 300' to make sure the window is already created before sending the loadbang...
check out the Tk documentation for "wm" you can do pretty much anything to the window
hello list,
if i understand the helppatch ./doc/2.control.examples/08.depthfirst.pd right, with a [t b b], the first outlet should only give a bang after the bang from the second outlet has passed through the complete chain of objects connected to it. now i have an [openpanel] connected to the second outlet, and the first trigger outlet outputs a bang before i selected a file in the openpanel, although the bang that serves as an input to the trigger stays colored (meaning it is not 'finished' i presume) until i have selected a file.. (euh.. i hope you're following.. click the bang in the attached patch and see what happens..)
i know i can solve this by putting the trigger further in the chain after openpanel. just thought it is a curious behaviour, and i wonder if it is intended. if so, maybe it should go in the documentation of openpanel?
greetings,
xof
