I don't know anything about that package, seems unnecessary and probably conflicting. The header Pd needs is included in linux-libc-dev.

work
except that the build fails with this:

I added a "Build-Conflicts: oss4-dev" to the pd-extended package. Could you add a note to the Debian wiki page about making sure that package is not installed?

If we are talking about the failure on my box, it is an OSS thing: http://manuals.opensound.com/developer/soundcard.h.html
#define SOUND_PCM_GETOSPACE SOUND_PCM_GETOSPACE_is_obsolete_use_SNDCTL_DSP_GETOSPACE_instead
(linux-libc-dev is installed of course)

I don't know anything about that package, seems unnecessary and probably conflicting. The header Pd needs is included in linux-libc-dev.

Strange, because building for Lucid on launchpad does not give this error, maybe you're missing a package? Here's the log:

attached is a patch that fixes Pd's OSS-implementation, rather than relying on not having uptodate headers installed.
