I think there is way to set up a .asoundrc in such a way that you can group multiple devices and give them a name, and then alsa can access this meta-device as a single pcm. I have never tried it, the exact syntax for the asoundrc file is obscure to me, and it also depends on the application and how what calls it makes to write audio. Try searching the alsa mailing list archives at www.alsa-project.org for clues. It also depends on the card. My rme96 has to devices,(ADAT and SPDIF), but they use the same hardware buffer and optical io plugs, so they are mutually exclusive. You can also check if there is any info in the driver source code for your card.
Not very helpful, but maybe it will point you in the right direction.

Hello!
I can't seem to manage to get both devices on my SB PCI128 (ens1370) to work. The card has two output devices C0D0p and C0D1p and one input device C0D0c.
How can I tell pd to use both hw:0,0 and hw:0,1 devices?
-soundindev, -soundoutdev, -inchannels and outchannels don't help. Or I haven't found the right combination yet.
Thanks and take care,
