Hello,
Is there someone who has tested a GigE camera with GEM under Linux or MacOSX ? I have followed the GEM-dev about Prosilica camera and [pix_video] but i can't say if it is working fine or not ? I want to use this camera for an installation on the ceiling in a huge space with a frame rate at 120 fps and a resolution of 640x480 px. Best regards. ++

under linux you would need at least the current SVN snapshot for Gem and get yourself either the HALCON or the AVT APIs. then compile Gem, and make sure you get the videoAVT resp. videoHALCON plugins.
since i don't have a prosilica (and nobody has sent me one yet), this is all completely untested.

hello,
i have planed to test this soon.

there are 2 backends in Gem that should support GigE cameras: AVT[1] and halcon[2].
grab either of the sources and compile Gem against it. there are readmeS in Gem/src/plugins/videoAVT/ and Gem/src/plugins/videoHALCON/
mfgasdr IOhannes
[1] AVT: http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/us/products/software/windows/gige-sdk-pvapi.h...
[2] halcon: http://www.halcon.de/halcon/download/ (you can get a free evaluation license key that expires after 30 days; the demo version will not allow you to grab images; so you do need to register)
Hello Iohannes thanks for the answer sorry i missed the readme!
the AVT backend is not compatible with the cam i've got.
Supported cameras: Prosilica GC, GS, GB, GE, GX, Manta
mine is a blaster cam.
the halcon driver look very restrictive. i register, download the pakage. but i did not have a licence. where did you find the 30 day evaluation licence?
thanks a lot Cyrille

have you tried, or did you just read the readme? i _think_ that GigE is at least some "standard", so GigE cams should work....

cannot remember exactly, either in one of the readmes that come with the package or on the website http://www.mvtec.com/download/registration.html).
looking into my old emails, it seems like "theImagingSource" contacted my automatically and sent me the key (as well as a CD with the software (again!)) make sure that your cam is supported by halcon...

i tried the included test software, and it did not see my cam.
nusmuk@nusmuk:~/Bureau/AVT GigE SDK/bin-pc/x86$ sudo ./CLIpConfig -l Searching for cameras ... sorry, no camera was detected. Is there any plugged?
with wireshark, i can see some discussion between the computer and the cam.

i would not be surprised that it is a volunteer limitation of this software to use only some GigE cam.

yes, the blaster cam are listed in the compatibility hardware page. i'll send a mail to the french dealer in order to have a 30 day trial. thanks Cyrille
