So I just added some more sketches for the Pd intro tutorials. They are attached. If anyone feels like trying to capture core concepts of Pd in clever little patches, please post them here so they can be gathered into a coherent tutorial

Hey HC,
Should we make another wiki page to collect these?

Hi HC
These look great. Can we show them to the folks here at InterAccess?
Also, I started a series of basic Digital Audio/Pd tuts, and I'd love
feedback on what I have so far, and to see if anybody would find them
useful (drafts, not final product!):

All code that I write is GNU GPL'd, including Pd patches, so do
whatever you want as long as you share your modifications.

These are quite nice, very good interactive + visual examples. I have
a couple of comments:
elements for all Pd docs and tutorials. There is a patch that I
started with this idea in mind, I view it as a wiki, so people should
add more standard elements to it: (in CVS)
doc/pddp/standard_gui_elements.pd
essential elements to illustrate the principal should be on screen.
That way it makes the overall page look much less intimidating. The
idea is to have each patch as simple as possible so that its very
approachable. Then, if people are curious, they can open the guts.
least, maybe even 640x480. Pd can run on old computers, which may be
in use in many parts of the world. Ideally, the Pd tutorials would be
visible on a computer than can run Pd.
I posted some content to the wiki that Ben started a while back:

I think this should be the center of this discussion so we all can keep
track of things.

Hi Hans
Thanks for the input. I've looked at the standard_gui_elements patch
and I'll try and conform my tuts to match (incorporation your window
size suggestions), and suggest any additions that might be necessary
to the style sheet. The basic idea was an attempt to have a
standardized layout similar to what I saw in Ben's tutorials.
(Although not as beautifully implemented...yet)

Wow. Yeah - I totally agree, after working through these with a
class. You either want people concentrating on the information or
the implementation, but not both at once. That was a disaster!

Well, I wouldn't conform to it just yet, its really in a raw state.
More I was looking for feedback and contributions. I would like to
have it fully flushed out before anyone uses it.

What seems to work well is to discuss things on the list, then add them
to the wiki as things get worked out.

I somehow collect stuff like that as well for later use. It's at: http://royalrabbit.goto10.org/svn/goto10/pd-patches/fbar/tuts/ and it's a bit unsorted and contains real tutorial stuff like this one on counting: http://royalrabbit.goto10.org/svn/goto10/pd-patches/fbar/tuts/counting.pd and also some random scribbling, for example: http://royalrabbit.goto10.org/svn/goto10/pd-patches/fbar/tuts/speed_of_chang... which shows, how to easily get at a measurement of, how fast a slider was moved.
It also contains a lot of junk. ;)

Well, watch this list, because we are planning on fulling flushing out
these tutorials, and they'll become part of the extended Pd packages.
The aim is to have everything you'll need in one package: tutorials,
docs, externals, examples, etc.

Some of these are great. Wow, all this content is coming out of the
woodwork. This is what often strikes me with Pd vs. Max: all of the
same externals, docs, tutorials, etc. exist for Pd as in Max, its just
in Max, they are easy to find. I hope we can get all this great
content organized into some excellent tutorials.
By the way, some of these are too big for my screen: 1280x860
(PowerBook). You must run really hires! See previous comment about
targetting small screens ;).
