Hallo!
thanks. But I wanted a "real world" example. I don't remember what the rest of the path used to look like. Some kind of "My\ Programs/blah/blah/blah" business. Whatever the default Windows place is...
but that depends, where you copy your pd folder ... On a german system it could be C:\Programme\Pd\bin\pd.exe !
Yes, I know.
But this is getting silly. It's really a simple question I'm asking ;-)
I am writing an article, and I just wanted to show one example of this path for each OS. Can someone with an English language Windows system and a default PD installation please send me the DOS command prompt which that particular system uses to start PD?
There's a shortcut whose target is:
"C:\Program Files\Pure Data\pd.bat"
(the qotes are essential for Program Files to be recognized as one item) and pd.bat contains:
"bin\pd.exe" -font 10 -path "doc\vasp" -lib cyclone -lib gem -lib iemlib1 -lib iemlib2 -lib iem_t3_lib -lib iem_mp3 -lib mjLib -lib OSC -lib percolate -lib vasp -lib xeq -lib xsample -lib zexy -listdev %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9

Excellent. That's what I was looking for. Thanks!

Hi list
i'm on Mac 10.3.9 and i've a problem with the graph object 'cause any pd subpatch i load inside that is shown with corrupted position of graphical objects like number boxes, vslider etc...
anyone of you have this problem?
thank you very much
f.
I remember using .bat files in the past, but last time I tried to make something like this, when I clicked on the file nothing happened (in XP). What's the deal with that? Do you I have to run it from command line?
I know the .bat way to start PD is deprecated, but on the other hand I think it has some pretty big advantages over other methods. Until we quit using the registry and get something nice like a .config file or pd-pref.xml ...

Let it be known that not everybody considers it to be deprecated.

Agreed. Why reinvent the wheel with a new file format when you can just add any number of libraries to the .bat file?? Sounds pretty elegant to me.
Also let it be known that it is not called a "DOS prompt" on versions of Windows that run on an NTFS filesystem. DOS is an exclusive technology to the FAT32 filesystem.
In Windows XP it is correctly referred to as the "Windows Command Interpreter", since it is no longer able to unprotect memory for realtime calls and essentially runs an emulation of what used to be called the DOS prompt. That's why your favorite DOS programs from long ago no longer work in XP's Windows Command Interpreter.
If you *really* mean DOS, then check out http://www.freedos.org/
You win exactly 2 internets if you get Pd to run in a pure DOS environment.
