hey it appears I can use set with tabread~ while dsp is off and it works when dsp is set to one but not so with tabosc4~ actually though i'm not getting set to work with tabosc4~ at all
Hmm - I just tried it and 'set' messages to tabosc4~ seem to work fine on my machine. There's a wierd restriction that the table must be a power of 2 + 3 in size (such as 67, 131, 259, ...) - otherwise tabosc4~ prints out an error and outputs zero.

I think you are correct, was an error in the way I was referencing the table in a subpatch for tabosc4~ it's good to know that you can set a table with dsp off. thanks
