a PureData patch to make 1-D cellular automata. the 8 checkboxes allows one to make the 256 possible 1-D automata that involve only immediate neighbour points.

a plot of the greatest common divisor function, color-corrected to make its features more apparent. white dotted lines correspond to simple fractions like 1/2, 2/1, 1/3, etc. black rows/columns correspond to prime numbers.
