just for the archives: to pause the playback of a soundfile with [readsf~] use [switch~].
(yesterday this cost me 1h of fruitless hacking the d_soundfile.c, until i discovered this very simple solution)

also, i think if you are making a synth or something with switchable oscillators, then it's best to put the oscillators into subpatches and turn them on and off with [switch~] , rather than with [*~] , as you don't chew up CPU when they're not in use.
