I got a bit interested by the (so far vapor-ware) MOTU Volta, and its promise of synth CV control from a DC coupled soundcard. I've got a Hammerfall DSP Multiface with DC-coupled inputs/oututs myself, and figure it couldn't be too difficult to whip up a Pure Data patch to interface with my Dopefer + homebrew modules. Is it done via PWM? Has anyone successfully gotten this to work? What about recording CV?
best! D.
Some experimentation shows:
voltage drifts back to 0V over about a second or so. 2) Headphone outlet of HDSP must be truly DC coupled because I can send continuous control voltage from there to analog synthesizer modules. 3) Range should be 2V peak to peak (I assume that means -2V to +2V, giving 4 octave range).
Should be possible with other cards which have some properly DC coupled outputs. I guess MOTU cards should work, as that's that the Volta app is designed for.
Have fun, D.

Using values between -1 and 1 as audio signal give 4 octave range. Yahoo....

CDM says that RME interfaces are NOT DC coupled

and Volta is 250 USD dongle ware, so better be sure

Don't worry, no plan to buy dongle ware. Anything Volta does can be done in Pd!
