Hallo!
I have some performance problems:
dri is enabled and with glxgears I get 900 fps or so (which is good I guess ...)
anyway, if I start my installation the cpu goes sometimes up to 100%, and I can see in top, that it's from pd and not from XFree or something else ... ... but when I reduce the framerate in Gem, I get less cpu usage ... strange
(could it be, that the texturing is eating all the cpu - because it makes no difference if I run it fullscreen or a little bit smaller ...)
LG Georg
(the problems with that are of course the audio dropouts ... :(

Did you try running two instances of Pd, one only for Gem, which communicate through netsend/OSC etc.

Hallo!
Did you try running two instances of Pd, one only for Gem, which communicate through netsend/OSC etc.
I just found out that it is because of [text2d] (antialiasing enabled) - not with [text3d]
Are there special settings for nvidia cards ... because on my laptop [text2d] need almost no cpu ...

if text2d uses freetype antialiasing (XFT) you can disable it in /etc/fonts/local.conf..

theres a utility 'nvidia-settings' which can customize or completely disable AA settings on your card.

thanks, but I need antialiased fonts ..
just for the archive: I fixed it now with disabling the antialiasing of [text2d] and enabling Full Screen Anti Aliasing of the nvidia cards ...
