Hi, I need help trying to figure out if pd/gem/framestein can help me with a
project I have in mind. I'm just starting to use pd/gem now, so I'm still
unsure of its possibilities. Basically I'm trying to compare two sets of
video databases in relation to average color, sound and possibly shapes.
I'm thinking I will have to compare the videos frame by frame, but basically
I want the two sets of videos to match up when there are similar color and
sound queries. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this with pd/gem, I
would appreciate your help!
Thanks,
-T
The video portion can probably be done in GEM using a few objects like pix_mean_color, pix_diff, pix_histo, etc.
The sound part is trickier because there is no way to get sound from a movie file into the Pd audio DSP chain. Having the audio in a separate sound file and reading it at the same time as the video file could work but not have perfect sync. FFTs would make sense for the analysis.

errr, you never tried pidip ? pdp_yqt, pdp_live~, pdp_theorin~, you need a good machine though...

My experiences with Linux were just too difficult and have discouraged me ... However I'd be very happy if that Pure:Dyne CD gets released and I could have an instant operating system ready for PD and audio... Or if PDP gets ported to Win, well that would make me very happy too!
