Paul Stoffregen has been doing a lot of work on Firmata to support the
Arduino Mega, give it a test with Pduino:

I did quite a bit more testing with Firmata on Arduino Mega today. I found (and fixed) a bug, where input mode could interfere with PWM in some cases. I spent quite a while fiddling with a modified Pduino (modified to support more pins), and my "firmata_test" program, and things seem to be working quite well.... but I can't anticipate every possible scenario!
Please if you have an Arduino Mega, give the latest code a try.
It's in svn, or you can download a copy with this link:http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/firmata_test/firmata_queries.zip
I realize many PC or Mac implementations of Firmata may not support Arduino Mega's many pins, but any testing at all (and posting here... bugs or not) would really, really help. Testing on regular Arduino would be great too.
