Hi Folks,
I am a quite new user of PD and my problem is, that I don´t have much test-patches that would help me understanding the objects and the handling of the programm. Could you give me some advise and/or links where I can find simple synthesizer or audio-processing algorithms? My second problem is that I could not manage it to integrate externals in PD. Typing -lib and the name of the folder did not work out. How should I do?
Thanks,
Karsten
Hi Karsten,
where I can find simple synthesizer or audio-processing algorithms?
seems you've not looked at \doc\3.audio.examples??
2.control.examples also contains useful patches describing basic control of audio/data streams with objects and messages. This should be a help to get started. Otherwise, there is a pd tutorial (http://iem.kug.ac.at/pdwiki/index.php?PdTutorial), the pure data documentation project (http://www.davesabine.com/media/puredata_pddpfiles.asp), info on pd's internal messages (http://iem.kug.ac.at/pdwiki/index.php?PdInternalMessages). erm, that should be a good start.
Typing -lib and the name of the folder did not work out. How should I do?
it sounds like you may have neglected to include the actual library name? if the library name is zexy (for example), and it is in a folder 'c:\pd\zexy' then you must specify "-lib c:\pd\zexy\zexy". I would keep the zexy.dll file somewhere where pd can find it (like in 'bin' - maybe not the best idea - or a folder defined in -path option).
not sure wot operating system ur running but I hope this helps....

http://www.creativesynth.com/subgroups/MaxZone.html has some nice Max-tutorials, that somehow apply to Pd as well.

Normally -path and folder name is better, except when you really have a *library* of externals. Then you need to use "-lib /path/to/external/external_basename" without the pd_X suffix. ciao
