hello, some time ago there was a request for separate pd lists for the developers & the users.. i'd like to renew it. maybe it would also make sense to have a very low-volume pd-announce list, too?
re, gert
Yes, I've asked for this some months ago, but now I'm convinced that it was not a very good idea. The traffic isn't too important, and as a newbie, I was happy to be helped by people like Miller, Guenter or Johannes. As an user, it was interesting to hear about advanced features and to feel the work in progress. I think that every pd "developer" is an experimented user, and every user could (and should, for his own freedom) become a "developer", and Pd needs this, because it's still in developement. Thank you to everybody here for the support, kindness and great free software.

pd-announce would be big comfort ...

an announcement list is a good idea.
i could make it here. maybe somebody knows better (shorter) address for it? (like, lets say, pd-news or pd-now! ... hype_PD ? )
could this list be used for both announcements of new pd (&external) releases and annoucements of works/projects done by pd "users"? - occasionally somebody cold filter out the "best of" from that list and put it on the wiki so we get an archive.
i still am not convinced to split the list into one for each users and developers - nicolas has pointed it out right, imho.
my apologies for the list archive problem - and thank you jfm3 and juha for reporting and IOhannes for fixing it...

jup i'd say any form of announcement of pd-related software,project,website,performance,clothes-line,&c or respective new version

hi,
well, this is mho too, and more -- as a dedicated Pd user I really long to finally see a fundamental developer-level discussion leaking out into wider public (maybe gg's ``thoughts about iemlib'' make a good start? :-)...
... but at the same time there _is_ a need for a separate resource to somehow channel out reporting of non-crucial bugs etc. -- as I feel very strongly, I have overused this list in the past by posting such reports (probably causing more harm then good).
