Hello list
I'm curious if anyone is using pix_video on a SGI. I'm having trouble getting it to resize to a power of 2 in order to apply as a texture. Basically when I try to resize via the "dimen" command, I get a "dimen error". The only size I've been able to input without an error is 640 480 (which is probably the default).
I have an Indigo2 R10K Max impact (6.5.11) w/an Indigo2 for Impact video card and web cam.
Has anyone else experienced this and or possibly come up with a fix?
any help would be appreciated

Hello. I'm a new pd user, and am wondering if there is any detailed manual out there, written in as plain english as possible, on pd, how to develop for it, etc.
Also, does anyone know of a simple, ready to go, live sound-effect processor file - flange, sweep, etc. The examples that come with pd seem to work only on pre-recorded samples, and I don't know yet how to build my own file.
Thanks!
-Ben Sommer
Check out http://www.pure-data.org and http://iem.kug.ac.at/pd . You should find everything you need, or at least links to everything.
Specifically, with regard to real-time sound effects, there are patches in the examples that do this. There are also patches where you can record some audio into Pd and then play it back with the effect. Keep hunting around in there. The whole help system is excellent.

I compiled pd-032PATCH5-linux.tar.gz.
I uncommented:
INSTALL_PREFIX = /usr/local
in /usr/local/src/pd/src/makefile
When I run /usr/local/src/pd/pd I get:
successfully opened /dev/dsp write-only successfully reopened /dev/dsp read/write connecting stream socket: Network is unreachable (101)
I tried opening another terminal and running, /usr/local/src/pd/bin/pd-gui
gtop shows: pd and ./pd-gui running
What am I doing wrong? Where's the GUI at?
Linux 2.2.17 Mandrake 7.2 alsa 0.5.9c tcl/tk 8.3

You have no loop back network interface. The machine cannot open a network connection to itself. I don't know how to set this up in Mandrake, but in RedHat, you just say you want networking when you install (even if you have no modem or network card). I need to add this to the FAQ: thanks for your detailed explaination of the problem.

Thanks for the tip,
I setup networking on my machine and now when I run pd in a terminal window as I did below i get:
successfully opened /dev/dsp write-only successfully reopened /dev/dsp read/write
The "connecting stream socket: Network is unreachable (101)" is gone so it seems like that issue is resolve but there is still no gui. What can I do to remedy this or where should I investigate next?
-Thanks Darwin

Just wondering,
Anybody have a Midiator MS-124W serial port midi interface working with Pd?

I have it running using the midid driver. It was pretty straight forward.
